4 Smart Ways To Better Organize Your Kitchen

From the school run to dog walks to working full time; a lot of things can get in the way of keeping your kitchen free of clutter. It’s a room like no other for attempting to organize, with pots, pans, unwieldy utensils and countless tupperware lids all vying for a place in the cabinet. Not to mention the piles of tins you’ve accidentally bought double of hiding away in the shadows.

There are some tidy, cost-effective products and systems to keep your kitchen in line, though. These four ideas will declutter your kitchen and your mind.

Spring Clean

Wanting fresh, organized kitchen cabinets and drawers means firstly having a thoroughly good clean out. Rip everything out and take good stock of your inventory. Any older or unused appliances can go, either to a utility room or garage, or else in a pile to be donated. Once you’ve cleared everything out it’s a good time to give all your surfaces a good clean too.

Minimal is best when it comes to organization, so only keep the essentials. Once your kitchen is stripped down to the necessities it will be a much more functional space that you will have a more enjoyable experience in.

Pull Out Cabinet Drawers

Great space-utilising options for your base kitchen cabinets are plentiful in 2020. Lazy Susans are a go-to for corners as they ensure that no space is lost in deep cabinets. Bins can be hidden away under the sink by attaching them to the door for easy access.

You can be as creative as you like in the pursuit of creating some extra space around the kitchen. Install some racking inside your cabinet doors for spices and sachets to be sorted into.

Organizer Inserts

Get clever with your cabinet and drawer inserts for maximum organization. Use a narrow cutlery drawer to save space for other utensils. For cabinets you can get organizers for your container lids and cookware to properly sort and view them.

Stockpiles of food can easily build up in your pantry cabinets if you don’t keep track. After your deep clean be sure to keep a log of everything you have so that you aren’t overfilling. For dried goods you can use labelled stackable clear tupperware.

Hang Everything

Free up some room in your cabinets by hanging your most often-used utensils or cookware as close to the cooker as possible. Fit a magnetic knife rack for functionality and hang hand towels and oven mitts an easily accessible place.

The aim of your reorganizing should be to create a straightforward path for your kitchen needs. Hang some box organizers from the ceiling of your pantry cabinets to really maximize that space and make sure that stacked goods aren’t unsuitably high.

The best thing about these solutions is they are cheap. They are also simple to implement yourself. It doesn’t take a massive remodel to give a kitchen an organizational reset and turn it into a room you love to be in!
