5 Different Types Of Siding Materials And How To Choose

Men, from time immemorial, have tried to build homes that would shield themselves and their family from the elements and wild animals. Houses were built from clay, stones and wood and with the advent of science and technology, the building of houses has been made easier.

One of the many home changes that became popular in the 1980s is the use of windows and siding. Sidings are protective materials that when attached to the exterior part of a building, especially windows, they protect it from being damaged by bad weather.

Presently, we have a variety of materials used to make sidings. It is important you make a choice from the options available and purchase windows and siding from Central Texas to protect your building and its occupant from inclement weather conditions.

5 different types of siding materials

1. Vinyl

This is one of the most popular material used for manufacturing sidings. It is popular because it is cheap compared to other materials and has little maintenance cost. It is also sturdy and prone to fading after many years of exposure.

This type of siding is known for its clapboard-like panels. It is not fire resistant and it can be repaired easily by an expert. It comes in different colours and sizes.

2. Stucco

This type of material is mostly used in dry regions, such as West America. The mixture of cement and sand in adequate proportion produces Stucco. This mixture must be handled carefully during installation to avoid cracks. Cracks can also be prevented by the addition of acrylic binder to the mixture.

3. Aluminium

It is a material used for siding majorly in the 1940s and 50s. It has the ability to resist fire and rot. It is a very solid siding that cannot be easily damaged. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to repair. You can find aluminium siding in a few retail shops, it is not popular in today’s siding market.

4. Fiber cement

This is the combination of three different substances. The mixture of cement with wood pulp and fly ash produces the material used for fiber cement siding. It is a heavy and brittle material. It is highly durable, insect-proof and immune to rot.

5. Brick

Brick is a material that has survived multiple eras. The addition of water-proof sealant can make it last up to a 100 years. This material cannot fade and it requires little or no maintenance at all. If you want your investment to yield immense benefit, you can invest in getting a brick siding. It is one of the most expensive siding materials.

In conclusion, before choosing the material for your windows and siding, it is important you consider the design of your building, its size, the function of your siding, quality, your budget and the colour you want it in. Putting these into consideration will help you make a good siding decision. You can get your top-notch quality windows and siding form Central Texas. You can contact us for more information.
