Top 3 things to do on finding bed bugs in your bedroom

Bed bugs are notorious pests that not only suck the joy out of your life but bring so much damage to your body and mattress. These bugs tend to breed quickly and are tough to eliminate due to their small size. It has been researched that a single healthy female can lay up to 500 eggs and they can stay without meals for months. These bloodsucking bugs can make your life very miserable as you will not be able to get proper sleep and will have red, itchy welts around your body.

So, what can you do if you find bed bugs in your bedroom? Well, there are many techniques to get rid of bed bugs. But we will focus on the top 3 things that everyone must do if they found out bed bugs.

1. Identify the infestation and contain it

You can either do a routine check-up for bed bugs or hire a professional to do that on your part. Remember, it is always easier to start with small infestations than the large ones. Finding these bugs can be hard if the colony is very small. As aforementioned, these bugs scale to ¼ inch that is quite small for anyone to detect. But you can identify the infestation by looking at the following signs:

  • Dark spots on carpets or mattress
  • Reddish stain on the rugs, mattress
  • Small yellowish eggs or eggshells

After you have spotted them, try to contain the infestation and limit the growth. Either run your vacuum through the place and throw away the bugs or ask for professional help to get rid of pests.

2. Prepare for treatments

Chemical and non-chemical treatments to kill these bed bugs are heavily used. You can hire any professional exterminator to help you with the chore. They can provide you with much better and reliable solutions to get rid of bed bugs. Some of the basic home remedies that you can do are:

  • Washing the bedding and clothes with warm water
  • Use hot iron or steamer
  • Keep your house clean to prevent further infestations

3. Monitor the affected areas and retreat

Bed bugs are very stubborn when it comes to leaving the house. They can withstand almost any climate except the extreme. So, keep on monitoring the affected areas. This is the primary source of infestation of the bed bugs after a thorough wipe-out. Vacuum the affected areas every alternate day to avoid the growth of the bugs.
